Josh's Wish to Walk

Here at MF Freeman we are working hard to support a charity that is very close to our hearts: Joshua’s wish to walk. Joshua is 8 years old and has Cerebral Palsy which affects all four of his limbs, his legs more that his arms. Josh enjoys normal boy activities however is mostly dependant on his parents and carers at school for his daily living. Joshua has been accepted for life changing surgery at St Louis Children’s hospital is the USA. This specialist procedure is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, this is a highly advanced form of surgery, which will eventually allow Joshua to walk with crutches.

The surgery involves cutting some of the sensory nerve fibres that come from the muscles and enter the spinal cord. By eliminating the ‘bad’ movement signals coming from the brain, this procedure permanently eliminates/ significantly reduces spasticity (tightness) in the muscles impacted, which results in huge benefits to the individual.

The Charity needs to raise £40,000 to enable Joshua to have the operation.

All areas of the business are currently helping to fundraise for this worthwhile cause, if you would like to help us make Joshua’s wish come true then please donate to www.justgiving.com/JoshuasWishtoWalk
